Waiting on Wednesday #4

Hosted by Breaking the Spine

Spotlighting upcoming releases that I’m eagerly anticipating!

Heartless by Marissa Meyer

Pub. Nov. 8th, 2016

Long before she was the terror of Wonderland — the infamous Queen of Hearts — she was just a girl who wanted to fall in love.

Catherine may be one of the most desired girls in Wonderland, and a favorite of the yet-unmarried King of Hearts, but her interests lie elsewhere. A talented baker, all she wants is to open a shop with her best friend and supply the Kingdom of Hearts with delectable pastries and confections. But according to her mother, such a goal is unthinkable for the young woman who could be the next Queen.

At a royal ball where Cath is expected to receive the king’s marriage proposal, she meets Jest, the handsome and mysterious court joker. For the first time, she feels the pull of true attraction. At the risk of offending the King and infuriating her parents, she and Jest enter into an intense, secret courtship.

Cath is determined to define her own destiny and fall in love on her terms. But in a land thriving with magic, madness, and monsters, fate has other plans.Goodreads

Top Ten Tuesday: Books that would be on your syllabus if you taught YA 101

TTTuesdayHosted by The Broke and The Bookish

Top Ten Books that would be on my syllabus if I taught YA 101

After a lot of deliberation, I’ve decided to choose books that could be read by Young Adults, although they may not exclusively be listed as “Young Adult.” This list will go through several sub-genres in modern YA (or books I’ve read right before & through my YA years.)

Books Read:
A Thousand Nights by E.K. Johnston (2.5 stars)

Ok, so I didn’t get as much read as I would’ve liked, but with the anxiety of a job interview (of which I’m horrible at,) and my birthday which was yesterday, not a lot of reading got done. I’m still in the middle of writing my review for A Thousand Nights, which I really didn’t like as much as I expected to, and I’ve started reading A Whole New World, which is looking to be a transcription of Aladin (no seriously, word for word and everything… minus the sing-alongs.) I was kind of hoping I’d read some great things during my birthday week, but oh well. I’m looking forward to getting more done next week! 🙂

In a somewhat related matter, cast your eyes upon my Birthday Book Haul, A.K.A. my July and August book haul, courtesy of myself and my mom!

Random Updates

I’ve taken a little hiatus from doing reviews, BUT I’ll get back to them SOON! 🙂
